3D: Reverse Engineering the Real World
Much of my professional time is spent taking structures that already exist and adapting them in miniature. This ranges from elaborate private residences to internationally recognizable structures. Depending upon the size of the structure, the project space available, and the overall scope of the project, I modify and selectively scale the structure so it fits within its new environment. Sometimes, I adjust the number of floors or surface features to retain the distinctive character of the structure, while fittng it into a confined footprint.
I and my skilled model-maker colleagues then take my design, rendered into 3D printed, Laser-cut , CNC-cut, Photoetched, or Hand-made components, and produce a slice of the Real World -- in miniature.
